On Monday evening our School of Management Year in Business students
came out to talk to a 12 companies at our Speed Recruitment style
event. I would like to express a huge thank you to the representatives
from Box, Cherith Simmons, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Hitachi Europe, MGN
Events, PiXL , Ricoh, Surrey Chamber of Commerce, Take -Two
Interactive, Teachitright, Veenus and Wilkins Kennedy who joined us at
Royal Holloway.
We were particularly pleased to see
current Royal Holloway YIBs talking about their company placement
schemes. Kane Nelhams did his placement with Enterprise as a
Management trainee at the Slough branch last year and is currently the
Enterprise Campus brand manager and talked to students about Enterprise
opportunities. Final year YIB Leen Tarazi did a Marketing placement at
Hitachi Europe last year and joined her manager to talk to 2nd year YIBs
about Marketing openings at the company in 2019/20. Sabeeta Gill is
currently doing a Digital marketing placement at Ricoh and shared her
experiences with current YIBs as did Rameen and Juree who are currently
working at PiXL
Small groups of students moved around the room every 5 minutes talking
to different companies about the range of placements available and
seeing if there was a suitable match. When they bell rang the students moved on! They heard about a range of
positions including Accountancy, Finance, Events and Operations, HR, Marketing,
Product Support and Sales
It was good to see the students' enthusiasm to secure a placement and to
hear positive feedback from the Companies about the students they
talked to and the types of questions they had been asked.
The Careers' Consultant Louise Ogle and Dr Catherine Harbor/ Katharine Radford from the Placements Place also manned tables and offered advice and answered questions raised by the Year in Business students.
Over the last couple of years, a number of our YIBs secured placements on the back of
attending our Speed Recruitment evening. We are looking forward to hearing how the YIBs this year get on.
More
details of the placements being offered can be found on the Year in
Business moodle page and via the YIB weekly bulletin email.
