Benefits of a Year in Business

Home » News » Benefits of a Year in Business

It’s been fantastic to hear from our
Year in Business students finishing their placement years about the benefits
they see in undertaking such a business placement.

Sanjana Misquitta undertook a 14
month Account Delivery placement at Microsoft and writes: “This year has been nothing short from extraordinary! From
everything I have learned to the brilliant people I have met.
From working as the Consumption
Programme Manager in such an exciting and critical part of the business
(Consumption- Industry Solutions) to being part of the amazing Educonnect 101
team. I have gained a wealth of experience which has helped me grow my
knowledge and professional skills
. I am really pleased to say that I will be returning to
Microsoft next September as a Customer Success Account Manager on the Aspire
Programme!”

Sophie Cutler undertook a 13 month placement at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and writes This year has been the
most incredible experience; It has been challenging, educational and
predominantly rewarding. From releasing a series of Technology Untangled
and contributing to several big campaigns, to working alongside teams
like Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team & ROKiT Venturi Racing. Additionally,
Having the opportunity to get involved in so much more, including
receiving a distinction within the Sales Readiness Programme to being a
member of the Charity & Volunteering Team as part of the Early
Careers Committee and raising over £12,000, has enabled me to expand my
network and develop my skills further and make many memories across the year.”.
Sophie has confirmed that she has been offered a Graduate role with the company in Service Channel Sales.

Year in Business students tell us
they have:

  • Had the chance to develop commercial awareness.
  • Had the opportunity to work within fantastic teams and
    develop new skills.
  • Many have worked cross department to broaden their
    perspectives.
  • They have been surprised at the amount of responsibility
    given for projects.
  • They are more sure about what they want to do after university.
  • They have strengthened their CVs immeasurably which will give them a real advantage when applying for graduate roles. Some like Sanjana,
will be fortunate to be returning to University with Graduate offers in hand.
  • They have had a really enjoyable year.
