Start-Up Connections is just around the corner taking place on Wednesday 20 March at the University of Birmingham Business School. The event is open to everyone and you do not need a
business to come along – there are plenty of opportunities for university students so sit back, scroll down and find 10 things to look out for during the night.
1. Impact Internships – We will be revealing our latest start-up and social enterprise internships. Find a full time or part time opportunity during the summer to help your CV – work with an exciting start-up or social enterprise in Birmingham. Did you know you can earn at least £1,000 for undertaking an internship?

2. Free food – Whether you are front of the queue or politely waiting for a gap in the traffic there will be food and drinks because who doesn't like free food?

3. Start-Up Experts – We are very pleased to announce that we will be joined by Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Department for International Trade, Federation of Small Businesses, BizzInn, Barker Brettell, Natwest Accelerator – these guys know their stuff and if you need help you can ask them questions and get some really valuable free advice.

4. Influencers and Entrepreneurs – Talk to our University of Birmingham student and graduate entrepreneurs – we will be joined by lifestyle blogger Beth Heddle, New Street Records, Grace Lynskey (The Empowerment Project), Gymbuddy and Instagram and YouTube influencer Coffemlk.

5. Network and chill – This may sound daunting for some but take a deep breath, be yourself and get closer to the people who could help you. You may find the one person who inspires you to start something amazing – or maybe you will find a student with the same passion as you. You never know!
6. Meet the UoB Start-Up society – This event will include the results and finale of the Birmingham Start-Up Games which is being run by the University of Birmingham's Start-Up society. Many of the members graduate at the end of this year so they are looking for new members!

7. Some really cool ideas – You may bump into some people with some great ideas, or one of many local start-ups who will be attending as guests. The networking session is designed to inspire you and help you with your own journey – whatever you choose to do.

8. People are looking for you, yes you! – Just maybe you have the skill, interest or the ambition to help someone in the room. That initial hello may lead to a future Linkedin connection, internship or career. The opportunities ahead are what you make of them.

9. Colour coded name badges – To make networking easier we are giving everyone their very own personalised name badge which is colour coded. Students, Employers, Professionals and Start-Ups will be easy to spot across the room to save you time to get engaged.

10. The support never stops – All good things come to an end but after the event the funding, support and talent on offer is still available. Check out our B-Enterprising for the latest opportunities
Please note, this event has now taken place. Look out for another Start-Up Connections event in 2020!
